Pedestrians can’t easily see that there is a cycle path and frequently step out into the cycle path without looking. Likewise, oncoming car drivers can’t see the cycle path is marked, and drive in or close to the cycle path. The council says it is supporting cycling as a means of local sustainable transport, and maintaining existing cycle paths is essential to helping people cycle more safely around town.
