Repeated flooding owing to blocked storm drain

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 09:58, Wed 28 October 2020

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2360462.

There is a history of repeated significant flooding which prevents pedestrian access. It looks like the storm drain at side of Saxlingham Road is blocked with mud, sizeable stones, and garden waste. The flood water is currently incapable of draining away. The drain needs to be emptied of solid rubbish.

Updates

  • I live close to this flood area and this problem has been going on for Ten years at least. I live at Lapwing Saxlingham Road and I realise that the Highways Engineer has informed us that the problem may be “fixed” by Christmas, but I’m not really happy if we are being expected to tolerate further repeated significant flooding every time it rains, when all that may be required is a simple action of removing the rubbish which is currently blocking the storm drain. This time the flood lasted for a much longer time following the heavy rain and there is still a mess there today. Yours Colin Miller.
