Fly tipping is something we see on a daily basis. The operatives (i.e. workers) who we are told attend, we have seen, bypass quite a lot of the flytipping. When we asked why, told it was health and safety issues, yet these operatives walk along and miss areas, i.e. just glance, ignore and walk by. We see continuous left fly tipping that is able to be collected and bagged on the walk abouts and also see fly tipping that is left to be ripped, kicked and spread around causing hazardous issues and environment. The cul-de-sacs are a main problem. The same culprits offend over and over. This appears to be a 'couldn't care less' attitude and it reflects on the children, who walk and play around it or in it. Asda shopping trolleys, smashed up furniture, wiring, rubbish in bags, garden waste, all left in cul-de-sacs. We have to walk around such and yet the culprits carry on with using cul-de-sacs as rubbish tips. It's interesting to note that most have cars and the local tip is but 8 minutes away! Fly tipping is a major problem and concern yet we feel that the part clearing by apathetic workers and our council taxes are more or less wasted. The council needs to instigate better tatics to combat an issue that is clearly still being fought. The council is at a loss of what to do except to 'clean up.' It's not difficult to work out better ways to combat flytipping as clearly what's in place is not working that well. The culprits know little is done if any and will continue to fly tip causing the rest of decent tenants to live in an environment that personally we feel, is shameful and disgusting. The placement and use of skips may be one of a possible solution(s). The council may throw up their arms in the air and say....'its cost.' Work out the cost of putting in workers that dont do the job of fly tipping properly, put in the skips and then do a comparison. We are sure that many tenants would use these, as why use the cul-de-sacs as areas for fly tipping if a skip is in use! A skip could be put in each area for all to use. There can not be any further excuse to fly tip. The schools need to educate and carry on educating and encourage that chucking rubbish is not environmental friendly. Tenants are educated and encouraged to use their waste savers boxes, it has been shown to work, so therefore, educating and encouraging is a step in the right direction, otherwise how are children going to learn that fly tipping isnt creating a safe, clean or secure environment. The apathy on estates is clear to see and feel. Apart from the placement of skips, there are other ways to help combat flytipping - talk to tenants, by way of letters, emails, home visits to promote the problem and severity of flytipping. Tenants listened to the council's waste saving after all?
