Loud alarm going off constantly

Reported via desktop anonymously at 11:27, Sun 18 October 2020

Sent to Harborough District Council and Leicestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2345874.

A green cabinet in the corner of the car park opposite Homebase makes a constant alarm noise for hours at a time, very easily heard in my house.

It seems like someone resets it every now and then so someone is aware of it. It was going for a couple of hours this morning, stopped for an hour and is now going again.

Updates

  • The cabinet is not on council-owned land, however some days later someone from the Environment Agency went to take a look. The alarm was not sounding, but I've since learned it's intermittent do constant, no obvious pattern.

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 16:01, Sun 13 December 2020

  • I've just closed it off (I was hoping it would start when the EA person was nearby).

  • This alarm is currently almost constant. I have contacted the owners and they seem to be acting, but no updates since they said they would contact the retail park management.

I have thought about the council's response that it isn't their problem as it is on private land. Does that mean I can set up an air raid siren in my garden and the council won't act if I set it off at random times? The noise is in a public area and I can clearly hear it in my living room. It sounds like I have tinnitus.
