A23 northbound footpath clogged with water and mud
Reported via desktop in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 14:38, Thu 8 October 2020
Sent to West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2331978.
This area of footpath has been covered in mud and standing water since before June 2020 (when I took these pictures). It is now much worse and pedestrians are walking round it very close to A23 traffic. The location is on the public footpath/cycle-path alongside the Northbound carriageway of the A23, (near the Gossops Green road sign), Crawley Avenue, directly opposite the Premier Inn Hotel, Crawley Town West, RH10 8BA (on the Southbound side). I contacted both Southern and Thames Water who have investigated and believe its not a leak but blocked drain or gully. TWA Ref. 33459373.

Ref. 3029777 I visited the site today (6/11/20) and the problem remains unresolved. This issue was reported to Southern Water, Ref. 4179732, by James Compston, Highway Steward (Eastern), Place Services, Highways, Planning and Transport, West Sussex County Council. I have also re-reported it to SWA on 2/11/20. No response from SWA yet. Issue originally reported to SWA in June 2020, then to TWA, then to WSCC Highways and now back to SWA - disappointing.

Still open, via questionnaire -
17/12/2020: Went past the site today, a complete mess and the footpath is now difficult to pass comfortably at this point. No one seems to care.

It looks like the water and mud have been now cleared to allow good access along this path, but I don't know if the problem has been fully resolved or if this is a temporary fix.
