2020-10-02 19:21:52 Operator: Hello, Welcome to the West Yorkshire Police 101 Live Chat, please be aware that we also deal with 999 calls so there maybe a delay in answering your queries, How can I help? 2020-10-02 19:23:14 MichaelGough: I want to report a road traffic incident that I believe represents significant danger to the public as it will be repeated. 2020-10-02 19:23:45 Operator: What kind of incident? 2020-10-02 19:31:22 MichaelGough: Earlier this week I was travelling north on Moor Lane from the direction of Guisely towards Menston. There is a bend in the road on which there is a junction with Cross Lane. Immediately after Cross Lane there is the entrance to Moor Top Quarry. If approaching this from the north, (travelling south) the entrance is at an acute angle. Lorries entering the quarry can only do so by being completely on the wrong side of the road to make the turn. As I came around the bend I was suddenly faced with such a lorry with very little stopping time. A second lorry did the same although I had stopped by then. For anyone travelling at the speed limit it would result in an inevitable collision. I do not think the lorries should be allowed to do this. It is extremely dangerous. 2020-10-02 19:33:13 Operator: One moment please. 2020-10-02 19:34:39 MichaelGough: It may actually be RG Stone Sales where the turning is. 2020-10-02 19:35:39 Operator: Sorry but this isn't for Police. It's for the Highways Agency to be made aware and they can liaise with the quarry to put safety measures in place. 2020-10-02 19:36:59 MichaelGough: OK, but if there was a collision being on the wrong side of the road on a bend would surely be dangerous driving. 2020-10-02 19:38:05 Operator: Due to the angle of the entrance the lorries are obviously having to swing out to drive in . Therefore the entrance needs altering or the road needs signage. Neither of these are for Police. 2020-10-02 19:39:03 MichaelGough: OK, I'll contact the Highways Agency. Tried Highways Agency - not their road.
