Deep & wide rut off the edge of the tarmac

Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 18:19, Mon 28 September 2020

Sent to West Sussex County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2315881.

I reported this problem last year and, whilst I appreciate that Covid has intervened with highway repairs schedules, the deep wide rut (some 20 or more metres in length) has not yet received attention. The rut has been caused by heavy vehicles passing through the lane, avoiding Laurels on the opposite side which have encroach upon the road width. The Laurels need cutting back and the verge opposite requires restoration . The drop off the edge of the tarmac is dangerous as vehicle wheels tend to drop into it and get tram-lined. More than one vehicle has already ended up in the undergrowth.
