Road surface southbound M271 is shocking

Reported in the Roads/highways category by John Gardner at 08:23, Mon 28 September 2020

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2314400.

As you come off the Westbound M27 and then start southbound on the M271, the concrete road surface is so bumpy at the joins it feels like being on a train. Any chance the good people who look after the A31 across the New Forest could become in charge of the M271. With Redbridge almost there would be great to have a road that matches the new fresh road layout

Updates

  • They have not sorted the potholes unfortunately and so it is still quite dangerous

  • The potholes and road surface in the tarmac, not concrete surface is awful. Why a two lane motorway cannot be maintained to the high standard of the A31, I don't know, don't get.

  • Unfortunately despite low levels of traffic movement and this being a motorway, which you would think would have the best surfaces of all, compared to A and B roads, still very poor and unsafe at speed.

  • I do wish the agency/people in charge of the A31 road surface across the New Forest were in charge of the M271, as they do a great job. The M271 is not a long road but it takes a lot of hammering with lorries from the port and so it needs a much better surface/sub structure as a result. My car tyres would appreciate not hitting the pot holes.
