C19 safety barriers PO

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 00:24, Mon 21 September 2020

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2304056.

High Street, Downham Market. Outside the Post Office/WH Smith.

The parking spaces at this location were recently coned off from the highway by NCC Highways (cones later replaced by unweighted barriers) to widen the footway as a part of the C19 measures. As you can see from the photos, a lot of the barriers have been unofficially 'repositioned' so as to create a parking space at the end of the bay where it was previous coned off. This has returned the footway to its pre-C19 width making social distancing difficult to maintain.

Other parking bays in the town were supposed to be coned off by NCC highways to widen the footways (as a part of the C19 measures), but this has still not happened. The footway outside Martin's (Bridge Street) is wholly inadequate in this regard.
