Dual pedestrian and cycle way, A27, Portchester Road east of Delme roundabout.

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 20:58, Wed 16 September 2020

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2298421.

Dual pedestrian and cycle way, A27, Portchester Road east of Delme roundabout. The pavement requires marking to indicate the specific cycle path and designated pedestrian area. Cyclist travel too fast and appear to feel they have right of way over pedestrians. A white line and appropriate symbols would be most helpful. Also, signage indicating cyclist should ride at an acceptable speed. Thank you for your time.

Updates

  • Local authority (HCC) courteously replied. “Something” will be done “somewhen” was the gist of the response. LA has plans, apparently, to separate pedestrians and cyclist. However, when this will occur was no indicated. In the short, and long, term we continue to dodge cyclist who often appear to believe they are taking part in an individual time trial atThe Tour de France.
