Need bus shelters and seats on road between Tesco and Swimming pool

Reported anonymously at 19:50, Friday 14 August 2020

Sent to Hastings Borough Council less than a minute later

There are two bus stops that have no shelter or seats . We desperately need them as it’s a very long walk to Glyne Gap that has a shelter. I have not been able to go to Ravenside shopping for 18 months as can’t walk that far and neither can any of my friends who are disabled or old . Why have bus stops with no shelters or seats ? As a council you should be doing more to encourage bus use rather than laying out the red carpet for cars . There is one bus that goes into the shopping centre near Tesco but that was only 2 times a week before covid and that’s not easy as it leaves at 12pm that’s the one and only bus . And still l can’t walk from Tesco to M&S and back . But with bus shelters and seats l can help the economy by buying things I’m going without . Better still would be if all buses went inside the shopping centre .PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS and give us a way to shop .

Updates

  • Everyone says it's not their department , everyone points to different departments not one will actually take any responsibility whatsoever . We need shelters with seats for the bus stops everywhere but my particular complaint is not being able to shop at Ravenside shopping centre because the walk to the only stops with seats and shelter is far too far for me and many other elderly or disabled non car drivers . You should be encouraging bus use not car only use . So build seats and shelters or let busses stop inside Ravenside . Take responsibility and stop ignoring bus users needs ,buses are irregular and infrequent despite timetables so we need shelters with seats not high bars that you can't sit on . Useless council .

  • They are still denying that there are bus stops without seats or shelters which is a total lie . The only reply l got was to say it wasn’t their responsibility which they have been saying for years . They ask for photos but l can’t walk for so far between bus stops without shelters. But they have cars why don’t they get off their backside so they can see what they lie about ? They won’t because they care absolutely nothing about disabled rights to public transport. They care only about passing the buck .

  • It’s between McDonalds and KFC if that makes it any easier . Not Glynn Gap by petrol pumps which has a shelter but is far to far unless you are an athlete or have a car . Stop everyone saying it’s not your department .
