Extremely Loud Seagull Screeching and screaming day and night
Reported anonymously at 13:05, Wed 12 August 2020
Sent to West Sussex County Council and Worthing Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2241969.
A lot of roofs around this area around Wordsworth road and Heene road have a lot of seagulls nesting and landing to perch on roofs and chimneys where the screech and scream for hours on end. Please can the council or someone investigate as to what measures can be taken to alleviate the problem. It is upsetting not being able to sleep and also not being able to sit in your garden without such loud noise.

Yes the screeching is definitely worse than previous years. The flat roofs need netting to prevent nests

Move to a different place if they don't stop.

I think issues like this can slip past government as low priority which I think is a real shame. During lockdown our huosehold found it very stressful not to have any peace and quiet. Working from home during the day it was hard not to have seagulls in the background during online conference meetings despite having double glazing shut. We need to look at win win solutions to care for nature and make look after well being of people.
