Pedestrians crossing on blindspot in Smith street

Time and time again pedestrians cross on a blindspot in Smith street. Just at the very top of Smith street adjacent to Eastgate. Coming from Jury street you can just about see them whilst driving around the corner into Smith street. However when turning into Smith street from the Butts it's less likely to spot pedestrians crossing at this blindspot. The near misses I have had with people who take their lives into their own hands. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this from happening? My suggestion is to have steel barriers either side of the road similar to the one on the Saltisford road.

At the time of writing this problem is still occurring. Off the record, I succumbed to this problem once when I was on my push bike in the area and some pedestrians crossed at this blindspot spot and didn't see me coming. I swerved out the way and came off hitting the pavement and got some cuts and bruises.
