Drain STILL blocked
Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 15:18, Sat 25 July 2020 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2216289.
The drains outside no 1 on both sides of the road are blocked between here and the bottom of the Close. This has been reported on numerous occasions and the Council's contractor has attended and discovered there is a blockage and has marked the drains yellow pending work. At the height of the rain this afternoon, the drains could not cope and were overflowing down into the Eynsham Road causing flooding there too. However, nothing has been done for months and months and our garden is flooded yet again after this afternoon's rainfall. Can this be looked at again, as a matter of urgency, please! Photos were taken afterward, when we had cleared all the floodwater away from our drive and garden.

Grateful that someone from the Council has been out today to look at the issues. I can appreciate that torrential rain exacerbates the issue, may I say that the flooding of the our drive has only occurred in the past two years and did not occur prior to that (despite there being many episodes of torrential rain previous to that - we have lived here since 2013). It therefore says to me that there is still an issue with a blocked drain between us and the bottom of the Close. In fact we were told this earlier this year and were promised that it would be investigated by possibly digging out the drain (of course, Covid-19 put a stop to any further action and I understand that). Please do not just use torrential rain as an excuse. There is an issue that wasn't there a few years ago and it does need some serious investigation. Every time we have heavy rain we watch anxiously to check our drive is not flooding.

Thank you for your report. I have visited the site pinpointed on the map, by 1 Evelyn Close. The blocked gully drains relate to a previous ongoing drainage issue at this site so has been assigned to the drainage team for further investigation.

Any updates please on when we might expect the break in the drain to be fixed? Every time we have have rain, which has been quite a lot recently, our drive floods and we are getting anxious. Any information as to when we might expect the work to be carried out would be appreciated. Apparently the job was supposed to have been done earlier in the year according to all the council staff who have been out to visit the site subsequently.
