Poor condition of junction
Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 12:38, Sat 25 July 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2216102.
The whole junction between Bucknell Road and Raymond Road is damaged. Numerous previous patches, areas that are sinking, new potholes appearing. Increased heavy traffic i.e. large delivery lorries using Raymond Road for access to Barry Avenue are making the problem worse. Very difficult to take photo's of such a large area so have included generic photo of general area. The junction slopes down into Raymond Road and the undulations in the surface can make it difficult to exit onto Bucknell Road especially in poor weather conditions. In my view the whole junction should be properly repaired (not just patches of new tarmac) by excavating and laying tarmac on properly prepared substrate. The road marking need to be repainted. If someone will come out and inspect the area they will see what I'm trying to explain. Thank you.
Thank you for your enquiry. This issue has been passed onto the relevant team for investigation.

Three further large patches were applied to the area however, the main problem of the subsidence of the junction on the Raymond Road side (particularly on the left) off the Bucknell Road has been ignored yet again.
Positioning another patch right in front of the worst already sunken area has not helped the situation.
We all know patching is a cheap option in the short term but a full, proper and complete road repair would surely be the cheaper option in the long term.
