Speeding

Reported in the Other (non-highways) category anonymously at 08:50, Sat 18 July 2020

Sent to Hampshire County Council and New Forest District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2205662.

After reading the views of the persons story on your site dated 4th of June, I wholeheartedly agree with the comments made. I personally have gone one stage further and emailed the local Councillor, also spoken to the police, but it seems both parties cannot assist with the problems. Hourly, surely everyone in our area must hear high speeding motor bikes, endangering our roads. Please make a comment, enough of us complaining could make the authority’s do something.

Updates

  • The speeding is a constant and continuous problem. Motor bikes seem to be a prominent factor, especially early mornings. Since the council granted permission for the children's home opposite (which is absolutely no problem) the staff and maintenance vehicles have to park in Butts Ash Lane, sometimes a line of 6-8 vehicles plus residents cars and vans who do not have driveways, this causes people to drive at accelerated high speed, when they think there is a suitable gap of on coming traffic. Invariably many times their judgement is not correct, causing road rage, pavement climbing and one accident. The speeding can touch very high speeds in both Butts Ash Lane and Yelverton. Between 4pm and 6pm it is at it's worse also when they come out of The Glen pub. The noise level from noisey adaptations to car exhausts is again regular. We moved here two years ago, and Friday, Saturday nights/early morning we have to endure shouting, swearing, fighting and cans, bottles and beer glasses smashed on the pavement. Recently I have had a brand new light ripped/stolen off our brick wall, our builder advertising board used to slide up the path, yes I have witnessed a lot of this behaviour, it originates from the Glen and ends up at Netly View, because the noise carries up Yelverton. I have informed the council, also the police and my local councillor Mr Wade but to no avail, all pass pass buck. Malcolm Carter

  • The speeding is the same if not a little worse, as is the noise and fume pollution. In the last two weeks there has been traffic accidents in this exact location. A lot of people express their concerns and annoyance, but never seem to support verbally to the correct authorities. Even your “ Fix my street” must have an agreement not too forward any complaints on to the relevant parties, which, if so seems a complete waste of my time and you’re time, many thanks.
