Reported via iOS in the Pavements/footpaths category by Michael Corcoran at 20:28, Fri 10 July 2020
Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2195025.
Concrete “ half - tubes “ being used to divert rainfall etc into the adjoining gutter.., The same system adopted in Medieval times when disused effluent was discharged into a gutter, mainly in the center of the road The only difference now.. is... it’s nearly all rain water ( we think) These man made grooves have had a devastating effect on the Autheritis of my Spine I don’t care if you think this has been like it for at least the last 10 years And no-one else in a wheel chair has said anything.. I HAVE Your duty of care results in a positive /amicable solution that meets with financial consideration... Please also tell me How many people,, with disabilities are registered to fix my street,, and know how and what it’s used for.. Please do not suppress me.. Out of interest The pavement on the other side Does not have these “grooves” And my only temporary solution is for me to be forced to complete my travel on the opposite side.. michael.corcoran242@gmail.com

I am 70 y old retired electro/mechanical engineer.. We moved to Aldershot at the end of September last year , we both use electric powered Chairs We both in poor health,, and have to travel to Princess Gardens regularly.. Any minor defect in the Path & road surfaces.. causes Didlodgement( and direction of the wheels..which in turn transmits throughout the body.. Causing abnormal aggregation to our conditions... Needless to say ,,, uncontrolled abrasion to the drive mechanisms ,, and wheels/tyres.. I complement myself at the regular standard of maintenance that I achieve,, which does help The Wheelchair service,, and the spares they would of needed.. AND YOU SAY “there are other wheelchair users out there” I bet they don’t do there own maintenance.. PLEASE EXPLAIN

I can sympathise with the costs of putting this “Victorian” drainage method. Right.. However, open drains were outlawed many years ago.( how much viral contamination is being overlooked) Yes .. and I know Wheelchair users are in the minority Yes.. I know you haven’t had “views” from other * disadvantaged * Yes... I am aware that “ fix my street” can’t reach out to a magnum of people Yes.. I am aware that notwithstanding the APP. Has been made available Not everyone knows how it works , or what it’s for,,..so you’ll never( conveniently) be “deluged” with cry’s for help...... I constantly see 2 other users 1/ perambulates in the road( to avoid the discontinuations of the pavement 2/ has Fully Upgraded his means of Mobility, by investing in a fully “sprung “ automatic suspension system “ Which gradually reduces the impact of “the bumps” But ,, not eliminating completely..
