Cars regularly mount the cycle path on The Slade. This is a particular problem at the Wood Farm Road junction. If travelling towards Headington and stopping to turn right across to Wood Farm Road, umpteen cars will pass the waiting vehicle on the left mounting the cycle path. I have seen near misses with cyclists cycling in the opposite problem as the cars just drive around with no hesitation. Some sort of barrier is required at this junction to protect cyclists and to prevent cars mounting the cycle path.
I wish cyclists were made to cycle on this path with the direction of the traffic. Using this junction is made more difficult with cyclists going in both directions on eith side. If the lane was still in the road this problem would not be present.
I have used this new cycle lane since it was made and sadly don't feel any safer using it as cars and that Pick Me Up bus regularly stop in it.
However, my first point is needs addressing before a cyclist gets injured.
