Blind Junction
Reported in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 11:42, Tue 23 June 2020
Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2168852.
Traffic coming from Wells-next-the-Sea direction on the A149 cannot see traffic emerging from the new'ish access road to the village , similarly vehicles such as cars have to emerge slowly onto the Public Highway at this point because they cannot see traffic coming from their Right , This has been a problem for many years and there has been accidents at this location .

I don't expect it to be fixed until a number of people are killed and then it will become an accident black spot , then something might be done to try to make it safer . Holkham Estate never see any reason to spend money . if it is not for financial gain . The Council has already refused Safety Mirrors , speed humps or traffic lights along this stretch of the main A149 .

Holkham doesn't consider safety a priority , if they did access to and from Lady Anne Drive / Park Road / A149 Main Coast Road , would be clearer , every day visitors trying to exit Lady Anne Drive are Peeped at by vehicles travelling towards Wells-n-t-Sea on the A149, we are only lucky if motorists allow us access onto the A149 from our secluded access road to Holkham Village , we merge slowly out , with Drivers Window open , trying to listen for approaching traffic coming from Wells-n-t-Sea , even access onto this unmarked road which goes from The A149 to Holkham Village can be tricky as that too is hidden access .

I don't understand why NNDC won't allow a mirrow to be positioned opposite the junction so we can see approaching traffic as a safety feature , Peterstone farm , has two mirrors placed opposite (1) The farm house (2) the farm buildings , unfortunately they don't see the dangers .

Around Fakenham in Norfolk are 5 roundabouts , one has been cleared of vegetation but 4 have not , Lorry drivers might have no problem but Cyclists and Car drivers cannot see traffic coming round these roundabouts , could they be also cleared of vegetation ?

I don't think Holkham Estate are sympathetic to visibility problems for residents of Holkham Village inhabitants and I don't expect they will until one of their own is a victim caused by the lack of visibility by main road ( A149) West or Eastbound Traveler's , there have been incidents at both the Beach road access to The A149 and Holkham Village Ancient House access to The A149 , time will tell .maybe if The Highways Department was to contact Holkham Estate Works Department , something might be done .

I went out this evening ( late afternoon ) at 5 pm , (08/12/2020) the Main A149 had not been gritted , the roads between Holkham & Burnham Market were icy and freezing fog didn't help , along with that Road Markings could do with being updated .

My problem has not been seen to yet . Another problem has come to my attention , There is a road junction in Wells-next-the-Sea , at the junction outside Suttons Undertakers , The A149 loses priority over the Egmere B road , could this junction be changed giving priority to The A149 Coast Road , focing Traffic entering the Town from the south to Give Way to A149 Traffic . in the 30 mph zone ?
