Speed

Reported via Android in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 20:25, Fri 22 May 2020

Sent to Hull City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2125901.

James Reckitt avenue is a long straight and it being used consistently as a race track by motorists using car , motorbike , Van and even small lorries. The speed humps around the school area make no impact maybe because they are so low. As a resident I see this every day it is very concerning that it's being allowed to happen. Please help.

  • I agree with this report and sadly it still seems to be the same. Every day we see and hear cars being driven well above the speed limit down here. It is also used as a rat run (to avoid Holderness Road) by the Police! Every evening we have at least 3 Police vehicles with Blue lights on pass at around 60Mph - speed estimated by CCTV using formula (Speed=Distance/Time). Even when the road was clearly marked as closed for carriageway repairs last year, a number of police cars drove past "Road Closed" signs and had to turn around! This raises the question if the police are safe to drive at such speed through JRA, as they clearly aren't paying attention to the road to not notice all the signs and barriers!
