How long does it take you guys to "investigate" this issue? It's still spewing water into the street almost 2 and a half months later. When are you going to do something about it!!

Hi. The entrance to the drain at the bottom of Sandpits play area needs regular cleaning to prevent it from becoming blocked (and flowing onto the road). It became blocked in early spring and was subsequently cleared (fixing the problem temporarily), but it sounds as though it's become blocked again since. Unfortunately the stream at Sandpits needs regular cleaning to stop this from happening and the cleaning is normally done by the Community Payback Team. Since Coronavirus restrictions have come into force the Payback Team is no longer able to do this, so we've been having to beg and borrow parks staff to take on this labour intensive piece of work instead. This has been intermittent but I'm hoping we'll now have regular cleaning sessions (starting on Monday 24th) which should reduce the likelihood of blockage and flooding for the time being. We've also identified modifications that can be made to the stream to prevent this from happening (and to make it easier to clean) but the capital costs are too high for the Council to cover at the moment. Hope that answers your question. As you can see, its not an easy one to solve and we're doing what we can to fix it...
