Alley/footpath behind Retail park drowning in Rubbish

Reported in the Miscellaneous category anonymously at 12:51, Wednesday 18 March 2020

Sent to Stevenage Borough Council 4 minutes later

The alleyway/pathway/driveway behind the retail park and alongside the cricket club leading to St. George's playing fields is drowning under litter in the gullies either side. Is this Council owned land or private. The gullies haven't been cleared in years as far as I can tell, and there's probably a day's work for someone. can you let me know if this comes under SBC responsibility to keep clean. Thanks

  • I was shopping in Aldi the other day and had a look in the alleyway gullies. there has been no change in the amount of rubbish there so obviously it has not been fixed. There is also, now, a tree blocking the roadway through to the park which has fallen from the cricket ground. There is probably a good day's work bagging up the litter in the gullies, but a team could do this in a much shorter time. I know you will have priorities at this time, but pointless stating fixed when it's clearly not

  • As with my past update, although this was marked as fixed, it certainly hasn't been fixed.

  • This has been passed back to the team to clear

Posted by Stevenage Borough Council at 13:21, Wednesday 15 April 2020

  • Has not been cleared and now is pretty much hidden because of the overgrowth of weeds. I might end up clearing this myself some time soon as the lockdown continues.

  • NO change here just waiting for the right time to trundle over to give the place a deep clean

  • No change. Not been able to start this mammoth task as yet, and it's a lot more involved due to the growth of the weeds, shrubs and trees. Still on the diary, but waiting for the right weather and a free day. Looks clear until you delve into the gullies either side. Years of rubbish waiting to be removed.

  • No change, still waiting for a time to get down there and remedy the blight.

  • I eventually went down and cleared 95% of the rubbish before I ran out of litter sacks. Haven't been back to see if SBC have removed the bagged rubbish
