7.5 tonne weight restriction bridge being ignored by diverted traffic due to roadworks in Heyford

Reported in the Bridges category anonymously at 14:00, Thu 12 March 2020 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 2057938.

Photos have number plates attached so are not posted but are available. Due to the closure of the B4230 at Heyford, very large HGV's are regularly using a bridge over the canal at Somerton which is weight restricted to 7.5 tonnes. This includes four axle 30-32 ton vehicles. It is necessary to put warning signs at the first diversion notices (long before trucks get to the bridge) to say that the road is unsuitable for HGV's. Coming from East to West the first warning sign is almost at the bridge where it would be extremely difficult to turn a very large vehicle around.
