Blocked watercourse

Reported in the Parks/landscapes category by David Kirby at 17:23, Sun 2 October 2011

Sent to Mid Sussex District Council 1 minute later

The stream behind our house has been blocked for almost two years. I have alerted mid Sussex DC of this problem several times, and was promised that work would be undertaken, at the landowner's expense, to clear the site. Nothing has been done, and in the current dry, hot weather, the stagnant water has begun to stink, making it unpleasant to be outside the house. There is also a permanent stink adjacent to the inflow conduit on Herontye Drive.

  • An official from the wrong department did contact me, but having said that he would refer the matter to the correct department, failed to do so. This matter does have a logged file number (499 035)at Mid-Sussex Council. I very much hope that the local authority finally acts, clears the site and bills the recalcitrant owner accordingly!
