This footpath has not been maintained for many years and is the only footpath to Shipston and Honington. It is used by the elderly and mother's with children who do not have their own transport or do not use the very infrequent bus service. It is also one of the few footpaths for the residents who wish to be active
The mud on the path made worse by recent hedge cutting by the farmer forces people to walk close to the kerb on the main A3400 where the speed of cars and HGVs is 50-70mph with your back to oncoming traffic Any basic risk assessment emphasises the dangers to life due to the lack of maintenance. The path does not need replacing at great expense!!! It just needs clearing and could be done easily by a slow moving tractor/digger (Contractors or Farmers) with an angled bucket pushing the mud away from the path/roadway allowing pedestrians to move away from the fast traffic (NB fatality in Moreton in Marsh this week elderly man slipped under the wheels of a HGV.
