Street lighting not working again.
Reported in the Street lighting category by Peter Jennings at 15:06, Sun 28 August 2011 ; (there is no pin shown as the user did not use the map)
Sent to Norfolk County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 199983.
At risk of duplicating a report which as an update i believe would not be put forward to the council i would like to point out that the lights in St. Peters Avenue and in the walkway between St. Peters Avenue and Cherwell Avenue which were repaired in July are now not working again. This means that both areas are in total darkness save for the light provided by the telephone box in St. Peters Avenue. There are many elderly people in the area and both Avenues and walkway are used at closing time for the local pub and Yarmouth sea front clubs.

Sorry for the delay in reporting that the problem of the lights had been fixed but the fact of the matter is that some of the lights are working as of last week but the light in the walkway between St. Peters Avenue and Cherwell Avenue is still out. It would appear that the problem exists in the cables and entailed digging up the road and presumably each light that was or is out needs to be checked to complete the job. The light in the walkway is of a great importance as the walkway is used by residents getting off the bus and wanting to make their way through to Emmanuel Road and beyond and at present are scared to do so in the dark!

Despite the obvious attempts at repairing all the street lighting in the local area where roads were dug up and a degree of rewiring took place the light in the walkway between St Peters Avenue and Cherwell Avenue still is NOT working. I phoned the lighting department of the Great Yarmouth Council today and pointed out that the clocks go back this weekend and that it will mean children going to and coming from the schools nearby will have to pass through the walkway in the dark. I was assured that they would let Norse know about the light as it is their responsibility and if nothing is done in the next 5 working days then it would be up to me to have a go at getting Norse to repair the said light. Needless to say i will keep you informed. Many thanks, Mr.P.A.Jennings.

Most of the lights are now working but the light in the walkway between St. Peters Avenue and Cherwell Avenue is still inoperative. This one light is the only source of illumination in the whole walkway and is very important especially on these dark nights. Several complaints both to Yarmouth Council and Norse have proved fruitless.
