Pavements badly cracked, damaged, sinking and uneven along entire Close

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category by James Clark at 14:25, Wednesday 12 February 2020

Sent to North Yorkshire County Council 5 minutes later

The entire pavement on both sides of Stone Rings Close is badly damaged, uneven, cracked and dangerous due to the failure of the surface water drainage systems as reported elsewhere and due to zero maintenance. The pavement are hazardous, given their current state, and NYCC are lucky that nobody who has been injured so far has to date taken legal action against the council. It is, presumably, only a matter of time before someone trips or hits a bump on their bike and is injured. Given that there are aged people and young children living in the Close, both groups are in the higher likelihood to befall such a fate.

Updates

  • Councillor and MP now supporting the residents in this battle. Council have accepted that some repair of road is required but, unbelievably, claim that the pavements are ok. We’ll keep fighting.
