30cm deep hole in middle of road - wide area under the road
Reported in the Roads/highways category by James Clark at 14:08, Wed 12 February 2020
Sent to North Yorkshire Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1994192.
Hole in middle of road, continually getting bigger, rain water flows down it, eroding the ground beneath. There are other faults causing rain water streams below the road too - the hole here is 30cm deep and spreads across/up/down the road in all directions ie a cavern beneath the road. During rain, a stream flows beneath the surface, causing the erosion and collapse of the road by the Aco drain and gulley at the end of the Council responsibility, public road. I'm reporting this as (again) as NYCC asked me to highlight the areas that had not been marked for repair by NYCC last week, for the repair on 17-18 Feb. This is report 2, more to follow....

Amazingly, some other potholes etc within a few metres of this hole have been patched but this hole was ignored. Councillor and MP now supporting the residents in this battle. Council have accepted that some repair is required but are only planning superficial repairs, rather than addressing and remedying the cause of the issue. We’ll keep fighting.

Hole was apparently loosely filled before surface dressing applied. Guaranteed that the hole will reappear very shortly.
