A mirror or similar is needed in order for cars to access main road and for pedestrians to cross safely to the footpath

The B481 through Highmoor to Nettlebed is increasingly becoming like a rat race. There are properties on the left side of the road in Highmoor (going towards Nettlebed) who literally risk their lives on a daily basis simply by trying to get out of their drive but cannot see the very fast oncoming traffic. This is also a footpath where pedestrians frequently cross to get into Nettlebed estate and many have witnessed near misses where cars have screeched to a halt so they don't hit walkers. If there is not going to be a more regulated speed check through the village then there is a need for some mirrors at this point to help cross the road safely on the blind bend. It is a tragic accident waiting to happen.

The county does not provide or support the use of road mirrors on the highway. The image they provide can be misleading in terms of vehicle speed and distance giving drivers a false sense of security, potentially leading to vehicles emerging injudiciously. They are prone to vandalism, fogging in poor atmospheric conditions and glare from the sun or car headlights. If, however permission is granted by a landowner adjacent to but off the highway and therefore outside the jurisdiction of the County, a suitable post and mirror may be erected.
The County could accept no responsibility for a mirror that is erected.State changed to: Investigation complete
