I would like to draw to your attention some unsatisfactory signage in Leopold Street, which led to me wrongly parking in what turned out to be a residents parking space.

On the left hand side of Leopold Street as you are coming down from the Cowley Road there are several, very large and closely spaced parking notices on poles on the curb of the pavement, saying clearly that one can park for a period of time, no return within 2 hours.

On the right hand side of the street there is one tiny notice, on a pole up against the white wall of the building, which says residents parking. When I arrived there were spaces on either side, but I parked on the right for no particular reason, then looked around for the parking signs and saw the several signs on the left side and not the tiny one up against the wall.

I had paid the charge as I was parked on what turns out to be a marked residents parking space. However it is highly confusing and I think the signage should be changed so that it is noticeable and clear, not small and masked by the background colour of the wall it is against. This would save other people being caught out like me. I would add that I have never, in 25 years of driving, ever had a parking fine as I I’m a terrible skinflint and hate to waste money :)
