Roadworks finished but barriers still up

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 12:28, Thursday 30 January 2020

Sent to North Yorkshire County Council 3 minutes later

Roadworks on Montpellier Square were finished before Xmas but the red barriers are still in place guarding NOTHING and the exit lane from roundabout is thereby reduced from 2 lanes to 1 ....No work has been done for a month so this appears incompetent and is certainly inconvenient for central Harrogate traffic. Please could these barriers be removed ASAP

Updates

  • First reported 2 WEEKS AGO and still nothing done by North Yorks Highways to remove them. The barriers have now fallen over in the high winds and the cones are slowly drifting across pavements and roads. Meanwhile the barriers remain an inconvenience for drivers and pedestrians, but North Yorks authorities seemingly can't be ar**d to remove them. Impressive. Perhaps someone will fall over them and break their leg, like a blind person for example.... You read it here first.

  • I’ve seen two lorries from N Yorks CC moving the red barriers around, but the inept bureaucrats still have not instructed total removal of them. The barriers are now guarding nothing but leaves. No doubt they’ll blame their inaction on CV but this has been going on since January.
