Cars on pavement and cycle way

Reported via Android in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 16:45, Mon 27 January 2020

Sent to Hampshire County Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1963557.

Usually 2 or 3 cars constantly parked across the pavement and dedicated cycle lane. Only just started about 2 months ago. Causing traffic build up at peak times due to restricted width.

Updates

  • I also am sick of the vehicles blocking the pavement and cycle way here. My mum is in a wheel chair and she can't get past the vehicles on the pavement. I see people pushing prams having trouble. This seems to count for absolutely nothing and nobody is willing to help. It's absolutely disgusting.

To make matters worse, I cycle here too, and have to leave the cycle path, into moving traffic, due to these selfish, careless, idiots.

Please, PLEASE keep posting and pestering the council/police about this. These things get ignored far too often. The council is a highways authority and is obliged to keep the highways clear, no matter what the obstruction!

  • It appears to be the same 3 cars that are causing this issue on a daily basis.

  • These cars were still here on the weekend (22nd February 2020).

Blocking a cycleway is illegal, driving along a pavement is illegal, and obstructing a pavement to stop disabled people or pushchairs is also illegal.

The council had better not proclaim they help disabled people when this careless parking goes totally unpunished for so long.
