Unsafe driving conditions due to mud

Reported in the Street cleaning category anonymously at 13:38, Thu 23 January 2020

Sent to South Oxfordshire District Council 4 minutes later

Since before Christmas, the road quality all the way around the Southmead industrial estate has been awful. Trucks joining the road from the refuse site are caked in mud, which then spills all over the roads up until the A34.

Measures absolutely need to be put in place to clean any vehicles leaving the Hill Farm road - this is not difficult; a pair of pressure washers would be sufficient, like most building sites.

Due to the lack of this, cycling is impossible due to the amount of mud, road markings aren't visible and car windshields are regularly impaired due to the muddy spray from other traffic.

Cleaning this road alone is not a viable solution. It will become dirty again within a week, just like how it is after already been swept around Christmas time. Clean the vehicles that are carrying the mud and the roads won't need to be regularly cleaned - a far more efficient solution.

  • This is still a constant problem especially after or during it raining. The path is very dangerous to walk or cycle along and there are frequently bits of hardcore on the road that have come off the lorries and their tyres coming out of Hill Farm Rd.
