Sent to Hampshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1954861.
This problem has been going on for at least the past 3 years. The roadside erosion is being caused by the lack of maintenance to the roadside ditch between New Forest Drive and Broadlands Road. Due to vehicles tyres driving off the roadside it has now created a gully between the actual ditch and road edge which is now intern making the gully bigger and deeper due to the road water run off not being able to get to the roadside ditch and to compound everything the ditch and culvert is getting blocked up with years of leaf debris and so the water runs along the gully at the roads edge and then is eroding away the end of Broadlands Road, which the residents of Broadlands Road have to maintain. If this situation isn’t sorted out it is going to cost so much more to be completely rectified properly. In my opinion the ditch can only be cleared out with a digger as it is far too long to be done by hand. I would be happy to speak / meet with someone onsite to try to get this rectified.

This is an ongoing problem that I have been trying to get sorted for at least the past 8 years. Neither the Forestry Commission or the Highways department will accept responsibility for the upkeep of this roadside ditch and the culvert that the ditch connects too. They both continue to say it is not their responsibility and blame the other for the state that it is in.

As I have said before, this is an ongoing problem with the roadside ditch between New Forest Drive and Broadlands Road, that has been causing erosion to the road edge and the end of Broadlands Road for at least the last 8 years. It will continue to be an ongoing problem until either the Highways Department or The Forestry Commission take responsibility for the ditch and it’s ongoing upkeep. While it continues to be ignored the erosion to a so called piece of SSSI Land and the road edge will carry on and get so much worse. The end result, as with most things these days, will be that it will cost so much more for it to be rectified. Where the hell has common sense gone.
