I’m writing you about Eynsham Road (from Tilbury lane towards West Way) as well as the West way road itself up to Botley school. Children walk every day to Botley school using the pavement which I’m afraid it’s VERY near the Eynsham and West way road and therefore extremely dangerous. Could you please consider putting barriers across the pavement and/or speed cameras, implementing slow limits and zones etc to make walking and cycling to Botley school safer? We need people to drive slower and safer at all times as buses/cars are extremely close to the children on the pavement. Their safety is of paramount importance and of course we walk as far away from the kerb as possible, but unfortunately we can not always predict and stop them from doing things that will distract them when walking near roads and with buses and cars driving fast and SO near the pavement, I’m afraid an accident will happen one day

Thank you for your report. The street layout with pedestrian footways adjacent to the carriageway is a standard layout that is used throughout the country, pedestrian guardrails should not be required to delineate the carriageway edge as there is a full height kerb in place. With regard to the installation of a pedestrian crossing, I regret that Oxfordshire County Council could not fund such a scheme at this time.
