Traffic islands unlit not easily visible
Reported in the Road Markings category anonymously at 17:18, Thu 16 January 2020 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1943018.
There is a traffic island outside the CABI entrance where there are bus stops and a road junction. The area is not lit by streetlighting and the traffic island is not lit either. I consider it a hazard, especially after dark, even to those locals such as I who know it is there. There should be overhead lighting or at least the traffic island should be lit.

This issue has still not been fixed. There will be another serious incident if the central island is not made more visible. A new warning sign is required urgently and they need to be kept clean at all times. Government cuts are no excuse!

Apologies that you have had to report this again. We have contacted the developer, Cala Homes today and advised them that for road user safety, the street lights need to be installed and connected as a matter of urgency. We are waiting for Cala Homes to confirm when this work will be completed. Kind regards Road Agreements

I'm sorry but that is a pathetic response. The island in the middle of the road is still invisible as you approach in the dark from the Mongewell roundabout. It is just another accident waiting to happen. The fact that it is down to Cala Homes to install the street lights is irrelevant and surely this would have been raised during the planning stages and planning officers would have ensured that this was done at the same time as the island was installed. If not then they are just as complicit. It is not ideal but cannot someone at Oxfordshire County Council take ownership and simply get the missing reflective warning 'bollard' with the blue & white arrow replaced as a matter of urgency? Failing that, at least put a road works cone on the island. Who's going to take responsibility if there is a further incident and someone is seriously injured, or worse? You know of the seriousness of the issue!!!

We have asked Cala Homes to make it safe today with temporary lighting. We have also asked them to undertake an interim Stage 3 Road Safety Audit as soon as possible, to ensure the works carried out so far are safe. Kind regards Road Agreements
