Leaves and sediment causing flooding

Reported in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 13:55, Thu 16 January 2020

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1942431.

Leaves and sediment blocking drains all the way up Cavendish road is causing the junction at Marlborough buildings to flood during heavy downpours.

I cleared the drains on Tuesday evening as the Marlborough Tavern was close to flooding (as seen in the picture uploaded).

There are still lots of leaves on the paths and road all the way up Cavendish road and Sion hill, anymore heavy downpours will cause the drains to block again and flooding will happen very quickly.

  • Nearly a month has passed and this has still not been fixed, last weekend we had the same problem with the heavy rain and we had to go out and clear the drains to prevent us from flooding again.

With more bad weather due this weekend it's likely to happen again unless the leaves are cleared all the way up the road.

  • After the recent batch of bad weather the drains all the way up Cavendish road were blocked again with leaves and sediment.

I spent another hour clearing leaves from 8+ drains and the gully all the way up Cavendish road, if I hadn't done this properties at Marlborough junction would have flooded by now.

This really needs to be addressed asap as there are now alot of leaves on the paths aswell, which are a slip hazard.
