Tallington Road Flooded again
Reported in the Flooded road category by Cliff Stanton (Bainton & Ashton Parish Councillor) at 17:55, Wed 15 January 2020
Sent to Peterborough City Council 6 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1940344.
Tallington Road is flooded again. Whole width of road is underwater. I have just reported this by phone to PCC as it is getting dark and there is no warning. It is possible to drive slowly through the flood water but the road is dangerous especially to pedestrians. I have heard that PCC is unable to clear the drain as there is a utility cable running through it. Is this correct? Please give an update to the Parish Council on how a permanent fix will be put in place. Thanks.

We attended to this site twice prior to Christmas to ensure the 4 drainage gullies were clear of detritus, then due to the surface water returning we got a 6 inch pump on site on Wednesday 15th January and pump all the water down to the open ditch by the railway crossing, this flowed, via the culvert under the railway. we left the road dry at the close of play, however the surface water returned on the road the following day, further investigations into this found the adjacent fields was draining onto the road via the saturated ground. Therefore e then appointed a jet vac tanker with a high pressure jetter and suction capacity to completely drain down the system and surround land and then we also cleanse all the pipe work running in the verge, as this become silted with all the field run off. However with the system drained down and the pipe work all cleansed and manholes / gullies emptied, we flow tested the system and everything appears to be working adequately.
