Pavement dug up on both sides of the road. No pedestrian way through

Reported in the Road and Pavement Issues category anonymously at 17:11, Wednesday 15 January 2020 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council 7 minutes later

On both sides of Hayne Road the pavemnet is dug up and there are barriers round the work. The barriers have fallen down but there is no provision for pedestrians. Pedestriand have to walk in this busy road - it is no use crossing because the work is on both sides.

  • Workmen were on site digging up for about twenty minutes yesterday and left the pavement on both sides of the road in this state. They never came back today. Earlier this afternoon I witnessed and photographed a mother with a baby in pram and two toddlers trying to negotiate their way through the constant flow of traffic. Very dangerous! Please could you make the pavements safe ASAP? Thank you.

  • This afternoon at 1.45 - The barriers have been put up properly but there is a very long section of pavement on the west side closed to pedestrians and the smaller site on the east side leaves only about 60cm (2') width for pedestrians. There is no evidence of any work progressing.

  • I completely agree with whoever has written the last update - the place is a mess, we have to walk on the muddy and slippery grass to get anyway, there is no way around that, and a nightmare for any wheelchair user and the many elderly people living in the area. The weekend is coming - how long before this gets sorted? (at this speed...)
