Litter from Priestley Road to Marriots School
Reported in the Street Cleansing category anonymously at 13:57, Sat 11 January 2020
Sent to Stevenage Borough Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1931516.
Litter has been accumulating over the winter along the path from Priestley Road, past the school playing fields towards the school grounds. It is mainly in the verge of the adjacent wood. Tins, plastic bottles, crisp packets etc are ruining a pleasant walk. Again I ask for a bin for litter and dog waste. This is essential to alleviate the problem.

Nothing has been done which is to be expected. Usually a token picking up of some litter is usually evident near the footway bordering the wood, but never into the verges of the wood which is where the majority of the litter is. This time the Council has exceeded itself and picked up not a jot anywhere. Well it is only a month since i asked !!!! They know this area is on a school route so i ask myself would the Council check this area regularly so members of the public can enjoy where they walk. The answer has always been obviously NO. I’m sure Austerity will be blamed not incompetence.😜😜

The area in question is not maintained by SBC as it is actually part of the school boundary.

I have been informed by the council that the area reported is not the responsibility of Stevenage council. However, they cleaned it up last time !!! This area consists of path and the verge of an adjacent wood. The litter is a disgrace and getting worse. As the council have taken no interest then i will apply to them under the provisions of the Freedom of Informations Act to see what they are responsible for in this locality and try and ascertain who is. Not pleased☹️☹️

No update. The Council are uninterested in this area. If it was the town centre we would have boarders of flowers. Out of sight out of mind seems to be the attitude. One employee working alone could clean this area so abiding with the restrictions and keeping Stevenage tidy!!! Not a chance !!!
