Previous repair around drain covers has worn into multiple potholes.

Reported in the Pothole category anonymously at 17:53, Fri 27 December 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later. Council ref: 1906874.

These deep holes are particularly dangerous as they are on the south west corner of the junction of Church Row with High Street (B4001). Traffic northbound is forced to take the sharp blind left turn wide where it is in the path of oncoming east bound vehicles. It also is dangerous for cyclists and motor cyclists who could easily lose control over the bumpy surface and slippery ironwork. There have been a couple of piecemeal attempts to cosmetically fill a couple (but not all) holes which have lasted no longer than a handful of weeks. What is needed urgently is a proper repair of the whole corner to resurfaced to an adequate standard, preferably before there is another collision.

  • Please go back and read my first submission which describes 'multiple holes' and then come back and finish the repair. I cycled past yesterday on my way to a funeral and there has been attention to only 2 holes. Holes close to the ironwork remain untouched and could prompt yet another funeral. It is ridiculous that a team of men attend a situation like this where there is clearly dangerous hazard from a number of potholes and only fix some of them. The principle of time and motion study shows that the road menders will spend more time driving between jobs than actually fixing them. It is pointless to argue that there is some arbitrary size below which a hole is not to be filled, when two are filled and four left unattended. Small holes will inevitably become big holes if not filled and a return visit is unavoidable. Use some common sense and get the whole site is repaired on the first visit. The same applies to the piecemeal, shoddy and inadequate excuse for repair that exists on the B4507 between Ham Road and the cricket club. Please do repairs PROPERLY
