Frequent illegal parking outside Greggs

Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 15:52, Mon 6 June 2011

Sent to Carlisle City Council 3 minutes later

Cars and vans in particular are frequently parked right on the corner of this junction on Grearshill Road, outside the Greggs bakery shop. This makes it extremely dangerous to turn right onto Grearshill Road, as it is impossible to see traffic travelling south. Since drivers seem unaware of restrictions on parking near junctions there needs to be an explicit, clear prohibition of parking in this area. There are sufficient, underused parking bays at the side of the building. Greggs should also be asked to address the problem with their customers, and their license to operate such an outlet revoked / not renewed if they cannot show that it's possible to operate safely in such a location.

  • People are still parking on this corner, on the double yellow lines, but I haven't seen a van right on the corner recently. Probably just luck.
