The result of standing water on the river bank footpath is due to Fluvial flooding (River flooding). This is a regular occurrence when the River Nene is in flood, particularly in low lying land. (Similar to Northbank further downstream) The River Nene is classed as a main river, as such it is maintained by the Environment Agency, any requests for flood prevention action with regards to the River Nene would have to be direct to them for their information and any intended action.
