Flooded pavement

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 13:25, Wed 6 November 2019

Sent to Halton Borough Council 5 minutes later

We cannot walk on this pavement due to it being water logged, it is unacceptable and dangerous to have to walk on a busy road just to avoid it

  • Today was worst, the council responded with the following , and will not be rectifying this problem...………...Unfortunately the ponding of water on impermeable surfaces can be a problem after heavy rain. In this instance, the picture of standing water on Sandy Lane indicates that this is located at a vehicle entrance where the sub-surface will be reinforced to allow access by vehicles, and this can limit the extent of drainage options. The picture does indicate there is sufficient space to bypass the puddle without a pedestrian going into the standing water and there is also the alternative for pedestrians to cross the road and use footways on the opposite side of the road at times when standing water is present. Whilst the Council recognises that there may be some limited inconvenience to pedestrians, particularly following spells of heavy rainfall, this issue here does not warrant further intervention.
