Uneven road and loose manholes

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 11:43, Tue 22 October 2019

Sent to City of London Corporation 2 minutes later

We have been reporting this for one year and have only obtained promises. We hope that promises become actions as it is unbearable to work in this area without the council taking any sort of action. Due to the past construction sites and the lorries, the road on Bevis Marks is a disaster. It is un-even and many of the manholes are loose and bang each and everytime a car or bus passes on top. We have asked the council to fix these manholes. They have replied that it is difficult because of traffic. We understand it is a busy street but one whole year has passed and we have seen telephone companies or utility companies coming to carry out works blocking the street...so why cant the council plan to fix these roads just as the utility companies fix the utilities? Also during the weekends this part of the city is deserted and a pavement road fix only requires a few hours, at most. Please do fix the road as we need to have peace in mind when working in this noisy area. Thanks for understanding our concerns

Updates

  • Still no fix to the road after 1 year. Some road repairs have been carried out just a few meters away, but the damaged manhole which is smack in the middle of the road is still there with no repair after more than one year. We have written to the council but have not received a reply
