Deep pothole on first mini roundabout
Reported in the Pothole category anonymously at 08:34, Tue 15 October 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1805356.
There is a large pothole that has appeared on the first of the two mini roundabouts as you head out of Witney on the junction of bridge Street and West End. It seems to be by the iron works in the road and appears to be reasonably deep.
Council ref: ENQ19845086

This pothole has led to a number of exposed ironworks. This will result in damaged car wheels and tyres and undoubtedly risk a cyclist falling in the middle of a very busy mini roundabout. This needs fixing properly as a matter of urgency

This has grown over the past few days and is now several inches deep and wide. The raised ironwork is in real danger of damaging tyres and the risk to cyclists is high, especially given the location on a double roundabout where ones attention is on the many exits and other traffic

This hole is much deeper after the rain and is a hazard that needs to be urgently fixed before a cyclist or motorbike get hurt or cars get damaged.

This pothole is very dangerous, have witnessed several cars and cyclists swerving this week to avoid it. There is also another one opening up on the road coming down Newland towards the mini roundabouts, again around ironworks.

The raised Ironwork is becoming so dangerous Im suprised no one has been injured or killed. its actually shocking to see and to even think of the risk this poses! Please address this !

This is now very bad, the road has broken away around the water inspection boxes in the road. With the volume of traffic and 11 tonne bus's passing over every 20mins, the deep holes are getting deeper and the base hard core is being exposed..

Surprise surprise this pothole is still there, ironworks now exposed and would estimate the hole now at 8" avoiding action has to be taken or serious damage to vehicles will result.

This pothole is dangerous and deep and despite reporting it myself early this week, my report was closed as it was deemed not necessary to fix.

Has this been repaired by a member of the public? It looks very minimal and will only last a few days!

This isn't fixed. This is dangerous. This is getting worse. It is very difficult to avoid the very large pothole when using this mini roundabout.

I first reported this on 15th October, it is now 4th December and the problem still persists and is getting worse. This is a major junction in Witney and the pot hole is dangerous. Over the past 7+ weeks the hole has been partially filled twice (the first occasion led to this being declared fixed) but the temporary filling doesn't last more than a few days. Please get this fixed as a matter of urgency.
Many thanks.

Drove by there today. It’s worse than ever. Needs fixing before someone has a major breakage due to it.

The initial money saving patching up has now eroded and the roads gravel base is now visible again. The hole is now bigger than it was when it was ‘repaired’ and the iron work is now sticking out. I think a reply from the council would be appreciated, and a proper fix even more so

This pothole is ridiculously large, i am a motorbike commuter and it’s very dangerous. If someone fell into it you’d come off for sure.

I phoned the council regarding this pothole towards the end of October, it was dangerous then especially for motorcyclists but also any road user. It is now so large and deep with exposed projecting ironwork it is a serious danger to all road users. These mini roundabouts are very busy and it is not easy to find an alternative route. This pothole needs repairing properly as opposed the substandard repair that had previously been undertaken.

This large pothole is still there with iron work exposed. 3 months does seem a long time to repair such hazard. Cannot understand why.

Apparently this has been repaired, yet when I went by the other day it didn’t look that great.

You state this has been fixed but it is therefore a botched repair job as the grates from the drains still exposed on roundabout and potholes re-developing. Also, on approach from town turning left onto West End, there are multiple potholes which are increasing in size. Please resurface this roundabout and the approaches to it properly once and for all?!

This whole junction is falling further in to disrepair. The recent excess rainfall has washed out the various series of potholes on the driving line through the mini roundabout. As a previous person as requested, can this junction be repaired properly for once and for all. The rate at which the holes are growing will start a raft of claims by drivers in the not to distance future.

This road surface has become extremely dangerous in more than 3 places. The raised iron work area is now a safety hazard (again) and the area to the front of the court inn entrance is over 8 inches deep and road base is exposed. These areas are past repairs, they are now a hazard and a risk of injury or death. Please repair them properly as they are gaining a reputation of badly repaired work.
