Distracting digital street furniture left after cycling event.

Reported in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 22:11, Saturday 12 October 2019

Sent to Tameside Borough Council 3 minutes later

Temporary street furniture left at the roadside after the cycling Tour of Britain is distracting motorists. The ugly contraption flashes well-intentioned but eye-dazzling messages to give cyclists plenty of room. It appeared on the competitors' route in Tameside, near Manchester, in mid-September - and has been left at the scene ever since. Its digital board. together with its glaring yellow alerts, is too large for the location and too glaring a display for drivers. It is located on a two-mile long hill little used by cyclists - at the junction of the A6018 Mottram Road with Old Road, Stalybridge, SK15 2RF. I suspect it has been forgotten by its owners. May I suggest Tameside Council removes it in the interests of road safety? Thanks.

  • It's still here, ugly and distracting. Totally in the wrong place, a waste of our council tax.
