Trees excessively high and overhanging. Causing sunlight issues into garden

Sent to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1772241.
The trees are getting higher and higher each year and are on the boundary of our houses. In places they are also overhanging the public footpath and into our gardens We have lived here for over 18 years and the trees have never been cut back. They are now so tall that they cause shadow in our south facing gardens in the afternoons when we should be able to enjoy the natural light and sunshine. I have contacted The Environment Agency as the trees are on land that is the flood relief and they say it is not their issue unless it creates an issue for flooding. It is that of the landowners which we assume is WCC. Can you please arrange for the trees to be pollarded.

Exactly the same problem further along the flood channel at the rear of Clovelly Way and between Whitacre Road and Horeston Grange, the trees are not maintained and some of the whitebeam trees are over 60 feet tall! Lots of trees have self-seeded along the embankment and are now over 15 feet in height. Contractors used to come out and maintain the embankments, but i have not seen any maintenance along the channel for at least 7 years, just left to grow wild through neglect. The channel itself has at least three shopping trolleys dumped in it, plus other litter. Government spending cuts perhaps? No one wants to take responsibility for the maintenance of the land next to the flood channel either. The footpath that runs alongside is regularly overgrown with trees, brambles, etc., so difficult to get past. Would make a great nature area if maintained, but neglected by NBBC, WCC and the Environment Agency.
