A large planter has been placed across the tactile paving outside the Pickle in east Street. This has reduced the space available to travel along the pavement to such an extent that wheelchair users struggle to get past it. One local wheelchair user was unable to get past it without assistance and was at increased risk of injuring herself on it. It is also extremely hazardous for visually impaired people. East Street is already dangerous because of the lack of a kerb, so to indicate the edge of the road. Reducing the pavement space at a point that is already narrow makes it even more stressful and hazardous for visually impaired people. The planter has a sharp corner sticking out across the pavement, increasing the chance of injury for a visually impaired person who won't see it because the planter is almost the same colour as the pavement. The planter needs to be moved immediately to avoid vulnerable people being injured.
