Nettles overgrowing on footpath

Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning with over 200 people taking part. The route follows the path behind the leisure centre but trails off into the "wood". As you get into the wooded area this path is being overgrown by stinging nettles making it difficult for participants to run through easily. Please could the nettles on both sides of the path be cut back so we can use all of it safely - without being stung each week?
